Welcome to Nafferton’s Official Parish Council Website. It aims to be fun and informative and any suggestions for inclusion to the website will be gratefully received.
To help set the scene Nafferton is in the heart of the Wolds in the East Riding of Yorkshire. It is conveniently situated 3 miles from the Market Town of Driffield, 10 miles from the seaside resort of Bridlington, 19 miles from the historic town of Beverley, 30 Miles from bustling Hull and the historic City of York.
Amenities
Nafferton boasts many amenities for a village of its size; a well stocked shop, Post Office with banking facilities, 4 Pubs serving anything from traditional bar meals to Traditional Greek and Chinese food. It has two garages, hairdressers, a residential home, a Chiropractor and many other useful services.
The local school Nafferton Primary School boasts Beacon Status and has an excellent reputation. The local High School is situated in Driffield and is served by a local school bus.
Transport
Public Transport in Nafferton is adequate with the 121 (Hull-Scarborough) Service running every hour the 744 (Bridlington-York) running every 2 hours (thereabouts) and a train service that runs each hour to Hull (via Beverley) to the South and Scarborough (Via Bridlington) to the North.
It is a picturesque village with an old (11th) Century Church set by a fresh water Spring fed Mere, in which reside many breeds of birds. Even in wintertime the Mere is a hive of activity when Santa Claus makes an entrance from the Mere’s Island to attend the local school fair.
